Frame Conservation

Among the thousands of works in the exceptionally large collection of the Art Museum of Estonia, a large number have original frames that provide information about the original framing of these works and the tastes and values of the corresponding eras. Sirje Säär, the frame conservator at the Art Museum of Estonia has made an important contribution by seeking solutions to problems in how to preserve the initial framing of the works of art and how to place as many works with artists’ frames and period-specific framing in exposition halls.
