The catalogue introduces Ann Audova (1904–2001), one of the most singular personalities in Estonian art, who early in her life and work achieved an impressive degree of iconoclasm. Her works displayed in summer 2007 in the Adamson-Eric Museum are analysed with sensitivity by Enn Lillemets and Ülle Kruus, proving that, along with heads, nudes and boots, floral motifs can also take on existential meanings if they are the products of a dedicated searching mind-set. With the help of micro-polishing, the conservator and restorer Maris Klaas gives an overview of Audova’s techniques.

This handsome catalogue in album format includes a survey of Talvik’s life and his work, a listing of exhibitions, a list of selected articles published in Estonia, Finland and Sweden, biographical photographs and reproductions of 68 works.
