  • Danceart in Kumu

    03.10.2008 DANCING SPORTSMEN (Japan)
    Dancing Sportsmen – Japan's contemporary dance combined with sports. Japan's dance group Dancing Sportsmen is a group of students of different sports whose goal is to integrate sports and art.

  • Visual theatre / New circus

    03.10.2008 The performance "Discussions" (Keskusteluja) focuses on the themes of communication and the lack of it. In the performance circus and video projections also communicate with the fresh music of varying tones composed for the performance by Kimmo Pohjonen and Samuli Kosminen/ Kluster. The performance's strong visual quality reflects the course of time. Trough the means of moveable projection surfaces, the choreography of the circus arts grows into a choreography of the whole stage. Images from an old silent movie are combined with modern-time video sequences. Time and reality levels interlace and mix.

  • The 2008 European Museum of the Year Award

    22.05.2008 The European Museum of the Year Award, organised by the European Museum Forum, has celebrated its 31st year with a Presentation Ceremony and associated activities based at various venues in Dublin, Ireland hosted by The Chester Beatty Library, The Heritage Council, The Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism and local sponsoring organisations.
