Egg Tempera
During the two-part course, participants will learn to paint with egg tempera, which is one of the oldest painting techniques.
On Thursdays 12.12 &19.12 16.00–18.30
The instructor is the artist and painting restorer Malle-Reet Heidelberg.
The course will be conducted in Estonian.
The pigments are mixed together with a binder, which based on various recipes might include egg and a small amount of white wine or beer. A similar technique was used for many of the oldest panel paintings and icons. The course will also offer a brief overview of the fascinating world of colour preparation and artworks will be painted on wooden bases which have been hand-primed with a glue and chalk mixture.

The two-part ceramics course will result in a clay pot or plate inspired by the works of the French ceramicist and alchemist Bernard Palissy.
In the handicraft candle workshop, participants will be able to draw parallels with Jevgeni Zolotko’s exhibition The Secret of Adam and shape a candle using an unusual technique: hand pressing.

Nerikomi is a Japanese technique of fusing together coloured clay masses.
