The Art Museum of Estonia is introducing the Estonian cultural heritage in six European languages
Guided tours in English, Swedish, Hungarian, Portuguese, Spanish and Danish will be carried out by the Art Museum’s curators from 9 May to 12 May in the Niguliste Museum and the Adamson-Eric Museum. The tours will introduce Estonian art from the Middle Ages to modern times and provide fascinating insights into Estonian cultural history.

Works by the brightest names in Spanish modernist art at the Kadriorg Art Museum
On 13 April, the Kadriorg Art Museum opens the exhibition “España Blanca y Negra. Vision of Spain, from Fortuny to Picasso”, introducing Spanish art from romantic landscape paintings of the 19th century to the innovative pursuits of the young Pablo Picasso.

The ceiling mural of the Kadriorg Palace will be examined for the first time since its conservation in 2000
On 26 March, the Kadriorg Art Museum and Estonian Academy of Arts will start a collaborative research project with the aim of checking the condition of the Kadriorg Palace ceiling mural, mapping its damage and doing extensive examinations.
Indirect evidence has suggested that the large scale central ceiling mural in the main hall of Kadriorg Palace is the work of Johann Friedrich Londicer and that it was made in 1746. Photo: Stanislav Stepaško -

Kumu’s new exhibition explores the dreams and desires of Baltic Germans and Estonian peasants through the works of Elisàr von Kupffer and Jaanus Samma
The exhibition Elisarion: Elisàr von Kupffer and Jaanus Samma will be on display at the Kumu Art Museum beginning 22 March. Elisàr von Kupffer (1872–1942) was a Baltic-German artist, writer and philosopher, and was born and raised in Estonia.

For the first time, this exhibition in the Niguliste Museum presents to the general public a large number of finds connected to the pilgrimages of the people of Livonia
The exhibition There and Back: The Pilgrimages of Livonians in Medieval Europe, open from 9 March in the tower gallery of the Niguliste Museum, provides an overview of pilgrimages in medieval Livonia.

The Kumu Art Museum’s exhibition Art in the Age of the Anthropocene was recognised as the Exhibition of the Year 2023
The exhibition did much more than usual: it was important, it touched and changed the world beyond the borders of the exhibition hall, and it had an impact on the wider museumscape.

The “Sittow brotherhood” won the Museum Rat award in the research event category
The research events held in Estonia, Sweden and Finland in 2021–2023 introduced Tallinn as a mediator and creator of art in the medieval Baltic Sea space to the wider international field of research for the first time.

More than 350,000 art lovers visited the Art Museum of Estonia in 2023
According to the chief executive officer of the Art Museum of Estonia, Sirje Helme, the increase in visitor numbers is the result of the dedication of the entire museum staff.
