A meditative gathering amidst Ragnar Kjartansson’s work “No Tomorrow”

The focus of the gathering is on Ragnar Kjartansson’s video installation “No Tomorrow”. According to the artist, this work, created in an age of wars, tensions and polarisation in society, is about absolutely nothing and at the same time about everything. As Ragnar Kjartansson has put it, there is “a frantic melancholy in trying to create a work that does not address anything at a time when everything is so charged and intense. Everything is war and, as often happens in wartime, it is suddenly time to simply dance.”

We invite you to collectively experience Kjartansson’s “No Tomorrow”. In this six-channel video installation we see seven women in white T-shirts and jeans playing guitars and walking to music from one screen to another. We first felt the impact of experiencing the work collectively with Ragnar Kjartansson; now we are continuing on our own, accompanied by visitors to Kumu. We will explore how the performers and the sounds move in the hall, what emotions surface while listening to these sounds, and what effect they have on our physical bodies.

The meditative gathering is expected to last approx. 45 minutes.
