Early Music Ensemble Floridante. Concert “Meder and Buxtehude”

Alonside the works of Dietrich Buxtehude, a renowned Protestant composer of the Baroque, the program “Meder and Buxtehude” includes oeuvres by Johann Valentin Meder. , who worked in Tallinn (Reval) as a cantor alongside his cantatas and instrumental works. Meder’s cantata ‘Herrr, strafe mich nicht’, excerpts from his first German opera ‘Kindly Argenia’ (1680), also composed in Tallinn, and Meder’s harpsichord suite, recently rediscovered and edited by musicologist Toomas Siitan at the Staatsbibiothek in Berlin.
