Family Morning: Everyday Courage
Kumu Family Mornings is a series of events for families with children aged 4–8. At each meeting, participants will visit an exhibition together and create small works of art in the studio space.
The Family Morning in May will be held at the exhibition The Mei Sisters: Avant-Garde and the Everyday Life.
The sisters Kristine, Lydia and Natalie Mei were boundary-pushing artists who experimented with different techniques and materials, reflecting their contemporary times boldly and creatively. Their works intertwine serious themes with humorous nuances, personal stories and the broader social context.
This Family Morning explores the sisters’ diverse experiments, from small sculptures, collages and books to costumes and dolls. The exhibition halls feature everyday objects, jokes and laughter, as well as more complex feelings and exotic images. In the studio space, we also experiment with spatial collage techniques, following the example of Natalie Mei.
The Family Morning on May 25 will be held in English.
