Family Morning: Mirror, Mirror – What Sounds Here?

On the Family Morning in January, we will visit the exhibition Spiegel im Spiegel: Encounters Between Estonian and German Art from Lucas Cranach to Arvo Pärt and Gerhard Richter and explore art through sound, movement, and reflection.
On this Family Morning we will play with mirrors and reflections, listen to sounds and each other, and develop imagination while learning to observe more carefully. Together, we will explore how images can sound and sounds can become visible; how colours and rhythms, silence and sound, stillness and movement can reflect one another and resonate together. Also, how we ourselves can become part of this common resonance.
Our inspiration comes from composer Arvo Pärt’s compositional method tintinnabuli, in which two voices move independently yet continuously meet in a shared harmony.
We invite all of you to discover art with us and to create unforgettable experiences!

NB! Please note that the art museum’s exhibitions may contain works of art depicting nudity.
There will also be a Family Morning in Estonian and a CLIL Family Morning, designed to support children learning Estonian through art.

About Family Mornings

Kumu’s Family Mornings are meant for families with children between the ages of 4 and 8. Each meeting involves visiting an exhibition together, using playful methods to analyse it, and creating something with our hands. Guided by one of Kumu’s educators, the Family Mornings bring art closer to young art lovers through age-appropriate questions, discussions and exercises, while enabling parents to discover art in unexpected ways, too.
A Family Morning is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your family, discover art and gain unforgettable experiences!
