Furoshiki Workshop

On a special night before Christmas, we will discover the secrets of furoshiki, the ancient Japanese art of wrapping. Gift wrapping can be creative, elegant and sustainable!

Furoshiki originated in Japan in the 8th century, when fabrics were used to cover and carry personal belongings in public baths (sentō). Over time, this tradition evolved into an aesthetic packaging technique based on recycling, offering dozens of ways to transform each gift into a unique work of art.

In the workshop we will learn how to give joy and beauty with the help of artistic silk: we will use 65 × 65 cm MIURIO studio silk scarves. Each participant will receive a scarf which is perfect as a Christmas gift or for wrapping one!

MIURIO is an Estonian textile design studio where silk, patterns and the richness of southern colours meet. The studio’s founder and chief designer, Rita Assor, creates collections that combine the works of Estonian art classics with the elegance of modern fashion.
