Intaglio: Drypoint

Drypoint is an intaglio (incised) printing technique in which the image is scratched directly onto the printing plate using a special steel needle. Drypoint is an excellent introduction to etched printing techniques, where visual art, physics and chemistry meet. The drypoint technique is perfect for first experiments and also for experienced graphic enthusiasts.

On Tuesdays 14.04 & 21.04 I 17.00-19.00

The participant can design their own graphic work, synthesizing artificial and natural elements, freely putting lines-surfaces and figures-objects into dialogue with each other. An original printing plate is made from the design and printing begins using the graphic press in the Kumu graphic studio. As a result of the workshop, the participant will produce a work of art and gain technical skills in drypoint.

The instructor Maari Hinsberg is a gallerist, conservator and the curator of the Kumu creative studios.
