The Niguliste Museum started a new concert series, “Art Sounds” in 2025. Curated in collaboration with the Estonian saxophonist and composer Villu Veski, the music events will feature art and music, including musicians and curators known both in Estonia and abroad. The series is based on the treasures of medieval art and the exhibition programme of the Niguliste Museum. At these events, the worlds created by the exhibitions will intertwine with diverse soundscapes. The concerts will be preceded by short tours led by art historians.
The third concert of the “Art Sounds” series is “Christmas in Niguliste” and presents a special collaboration: Estonian saxophonist Villu Veski will perform together with his Trio and jazz singer England Brooks
Singer and communicator England Brooks (b. 1956) was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Twenty-one years ago, she made Norway her homeland and Bodø her new hometown. England’s deep and soulful voice is reminiscent of both Sarah Vaughan and Shirley Horn, but with a completely unique expression. She has a unique ability to convey and communicate with her audience, whether it is at a jazz club, festival, concert hall or on TV.
The concert will feature soulful jazz pieces, timeless Christmas melodies, authentic gospel music, and many other beautiful works. The festive spirit will be enhanced by the historic atmosphere of the Niguliste Museum and the magnificent Christmas tree from Shishi.
