Kadriorg birthday festivities
Throughout history, Kadriorg has been a true meeting place of cultures. This year, the anniversary of Kadriorg focuses on Spanish music and art, supported by the exhibition España Blanca y Negra: Vision of Spain, from Fortuny to Picasso at the Kadriorg Art Museum. The concert performance is dedicated to music from Georges Bizet’s Carmen and the enchanting and exhilarating art of flamenco, known and loved by all.

12.00–16.00 Games in the Palace’s garden “Under the Spanish Sun”
The Games in the Palace’s Garden take place in cooperation with the museums located in the historical buildings of Kadriorg; exciting experiences are offered by the Kadriorg Art Museum, Peter the Great’s House, the Children’s Museum Miiamilla and the Mikkel Museum. Participation is free!

Ringkäik Kadrioru kunstimuuseumi näitusel „España Blanca y Negra“ tutvustab Hispaania maastikumaali alates selle kujunemisest 19. sajandil kuni elegantselt värvitundlike ja hullumeelselt vabade modernistlike suundumusteni, millest kasvas välja maailma kunsti radikaalselt muutnud Pablo Picasso. Hispaania maalikunstnike teostega tutvumise vahele kõlavad katked Friedebert Tuglase Hispaania reisikirjadest.

19.00 Performance-concert “Spain’s Passionate Rhythm”
The magnificent concert performance presents the rich cultural heritage of Spain. The MEl06 chamber orchestra plays the Carmen Suite by Georges Bizet, illustrated by choreographic pieces dedicated to Kadriorg, created by the Sevillan flamenco master José Serrano and by Maria Rääk, a guiding light in Estonian flamenco circles.
For the second part of the concert performance, a flamenco group will join the orchestra to perform authentic flamenco pieces, as well as music by Spanish and Latin-American composers accompanied by guitars, castanets and cajóns. The dancers of ArteFlamenco, along with a guest soloist from Spain, create a colourful fiesta and convey the genuine Spanish spirit.
