Kumu Documentary: Flamingos: Life After the Meteorite
Dir Lorenzo Hagerman
Mexico 2025, 83 min
In Spanish, with English subtitles
Introduction by Heiko Kruusi, Environmental Educator at Tallinn Zoo.
This miraculous tale follows Caribbean flamingos through the most delicate period of their existence.
This wonderful glimpse into the making of a new generation of Caribbean flamingos at their Yucatan Peninsula nesting grounds shows just how fragile and transient life is, and how much sheer grit is required to sustain it. This immersive nature doc stands out for its uniquely philosophical yet humorous narration, lively music that seems to translate the birds’ lives into Latin beats, and visuals that delight the eyes with colour and motion, even before the mind assigns them meaning.
