Kumu Youth Evening: Are you afraid…?

Kumunists and Sveta Grigorjeva present: Kumu youth evening: Are you afraid…?

You are me: young and present, here in this moment in time. But are you afraid of me?

On 20 November at 6 pm., we’ll take over Kumu. We want to create an evening that proves how important we are to one another, and how beautiful discomfort can be within all of us. The themes of the event are tolerance, discomfort and fear. We want to show that tolerance flows within each of us, that we must stand up for US, and protect one another from EACH OTHER’s cruelty. So let’s feel together — each other. Let’s feel that we are, because it is we, furry and feathered, black-and-white and colourful, who share the air we breathe.
Throughout the evening, there will be various activities and workshops led by the writer and choreographer Sveta Grigorjeva. Guests will also have the chance to explore the exhibition Anna-Stina Treumund: How to Recognize a Lesbian?
This evening is for you: be there, or be there!

The event description was written by the young organisers themselves.

Who are the kumunists?

The kumunists are students of Tallinn Tõnismäe and Pelgulinna secondary schools who participate in the electives course “Activism school: Interventions in Kumu Art Museum” which is organised by Kumu. During the electives students organise an event in the museum dedicated to young people. Specifically in focus is the exhibition “Anna-Stina Treumund. How to recognise a lesbian?”
