Museum Night “A Book in the Night” at Kadriorg Art Museum
The museum’s permanent exhibitions will be open on Museum Night: European and Russian art from the 16th to the 19th century on the upper floors of the castle, and the sculpture collection’s open storage on the ground floor.
Special exhibition ART+BOOK
The Museum Night special exhibition “ART+BOOK” is open on the second floor of the museum in the banquet hall, introducing the technical and characteristic features of art books and exhibition catalogues, starting with bindings, printing and paper, and introducing the most common genres. Visitors can take a close look at old and new publications of the Art Museum of Estonia, and from 6‒9 pm students of the Kadriorg German Gymnasium and museum staff will provide explanations.
There will also be a sale on art books! The selection includes valuable literature that can be purchased at particularly low prices during Museum Night!
The exhibition “ART+BOOK” was created in collaboration with teachers and students of the German Gymnasium of Kadriorg and a team from the Kadriorg Art Museum.
Short tours “How to read art?”
In the halls of the permanent exhibition, experienced museum guides will await visitors, and at selected times will tell stories depicted in works of art. The stories include Achilles and the burning of Troy, Diana and Actaeon, Cupid and Psyche, the prophet Elisha, the story of the wedding at Cana, and memories of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna’s youth.
Short tours will take place every half hour in different halls of the museum; more detailed instructions will be available on site at the museum.
