On this festive concert day, nearly all of the music school’s disciplines are represented, ranging from early and folk music instruments such as the harpsichord, viola da gamba, recorder, kannel (Estonian zither), to violin, cello, guitar, piano, and the brilliant trumpet. Choral music will be performed by the St. Michael’s Boys’ Choir, whose repertoire primarily includes historical sacred music, including Estonian folk hymns, making it one of the most unique boys’ choirs in Estonia.
The music school of Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium has evolved from the circles of the Old town Music House and, over the past 35 years, has become a creative environment that supports students’ musical development and cultural knowledge through various musical activities such as choral singing, instrumental instruction, folk music, and early music.
