Concert Estonian Chromatic Kannel – a New Old Instrument

The kannel is an ancient Estonian stringed instrument that goes back thousands of years. The Estonian chromatic kannel, however, is a much newer instrument, developed in the early 1950s. The concert features solo and ensemble music from different eras.

Performers: Marliis Miilimäe, Paulina Andrejeva and Miia Polding, students of the kannel class of Kristi Mühling and Anna-Liisa Eller at the Tallinn School of Music and Ballet (MUBA).

Programme: Johann Sebastian Bach, Ester Mägi, Valeri Kikta, Siiri Siimer, Vaclovas Paketūras, Anthony Sidney and original improvisations. Included in the museum admission (€8/12)
