In the “Lossimuusika” (Palace Music) series of Sunday concerts at Kadriorg Palace, the period-instrument ensemble Floridante opens its 2026/2027 season. For more than a decade, Floridante has moved with equal ease between historically informed repertoire, arrangements of folk songs, and premieres of new works on the Estonian classical scene. On the first Sunday in October, the ensemble presents an entirely new programme entitled “United Basses.” As the title suggests, the hour-long concert brings together voices and instruments that resonate in the lower register.
Floridante’s collaboration with baritone Alvar Tiisler is long-standing. Last summer, the Dutch label Brilliant Classics released their joint CD Baroque Arias, featuring British tenor Guy Cutting as well. The album has received favourable reviews in Pizzicato, BBC Music Magazine, and Gramophone. Esteemed soloist, pedagogue, and ERSO musician Peeter Sarapuu, whose everyday performing life centres on modern instruments, here presents a selection from his collection of historical bass instruments.
Kadriorg Palace is one the most well known and beautiful historic concert halls in Estonia offering memorable music experiences already for many decades. The tradition of performing music in the baroque palace goes back to 18th century when court music accompanied the daily life. The palace has had the pleasure to welcome many international artists and ensembles for outstanding performances.
Music has been performed in the palace halls since the 18th century. In the past few decades, the most brilliant Estonian and international musicians have delighted listeners in the palace. Regular concerts started to take place in the Kadriorg Palace again in 2014, when the museum launched the Palace Music Concert Series. The extraordinary acoustics and the magnificent interior of the main hall make every concert a truly enjoyable artistic experience.
