Shared Experiences: Hold Me Dearly (in Russian)
In October, the Shared Experiences programme will take place in Kumu’s courtyard! We will visit a heartfelt exhibition that gives a voice to young people who are often overlooked. Event is in Russian.
The project was created in collaboration with young people staying in a secure child care institution (KLAT).
The exhibition brings viewers stories of children and young people whose behaviour is often rooted in trauma, fear, rejection and a lack of belonging. The project was initiated by artist Marta Vaarik, whose 2022 solo exhibition of the same name at Vabadus Gallery evolved into a feature-length documentary film as well as the idea for a wider travelling exhibition.
The young people participating in the project have chosen the medium that best suits their story – photography, collage, installation, sculpture, sound art, music or short film. The result is a collection of works that speak honestly, directly and courageously.
NB! The programme will take place partly outdoors. Please dress according to the weather.
About the series
The series “Shared Experiences” aims to create an environment that is cohesive and facilitates debate between generations. Leisurely tours introduce the permanent and temporary exhibitions of Kumu. Each tour is followed by a talk and workshop with the programme manager and invited guests at the Kumu Education Centre, where tea and biscuits will be served.
“Shared Experiences” is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow culture lovers your age, learn something new, and share your knowledge and experience with other participants and the programme managers.
Help shape a new series! At the end of each meeting, the programme manager will distribute feedback forms, where participants can write down their observations, wishes and suggestions.
Participation is free of charge with an annual pass to the Art Museum of Estonia or a Museum Card.
