Sound performance: “Music for 4 Sculptures in 15 Pieces in 9 Movements for 2 Performers” by Jonna Kina and Lauri Supponen

Premiere of the sound performance “Music for Four Sculptures in Fifteen Pieces in Nine Movements for Two Performers” by Jonna Kina and Lauri Supponen at the Kumu Art Museum. After the performance, there will be a conversation with the artists.
The context of the composition comes from Kina’s exhibition on the third floor (“Jonna Kina. Four Sculptures in Fifteen Pieces”), which is based on fragments of sculptures by August Weizenberg and Amandus Adamson estroyed in the 1944 bombings of Tallinn. The composition seeks to find parallels for the themes of decay and breaking through the sounds of the trombone and percussion instruments. The work is notated on several individual index cards, which are shuffled.
Jonna Kina graduated from the Finnish Academy of Arts and from Aalto University, School of Arts, Department of Photography. She has also studied in the School of Visual Arts, New York and in Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. Kina’s works have been widely presented in numerous international exhibitions and festivals: the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Berlinale Forum Expanded, the Espoo Museum of Modern Art EMMA, the Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne etc.
