Based on John Nichols’ novel of the same name, The Milagro Beanfield War is a modern-day David versus Goliath tale. Set in the small northern New Mexico town Milagro, Spanish for “Miracle,” underdog Joe Mondragon accidentally ignites a battle between local farmers and outside land developers for the desert’s most precious resource: water. Featuring a quirky cast of characters and a dash of magical realism, this drama-comedy is not only a whimsical trip to the American south-west, but also a glimpse into the Latino struggle to balance progress with culture and tradition.
Entrance free of charge.
