Welcome Tour: Treasures of Medieval Art
The English-language tour opens the treasure chest of Estonian medieval art. On the last Friday of each month at 3:00 pm, we welcome you to a guided tour in English at the Niguliste Museum, introducing the highlights of Estonia’s medieval and early modern ecclesiastical art.
The collection of the Niguliste Museum, located in Tallinn’s Old Town, represents the most remarkable and valuable part of Estonia’s medieval and early modern church art. The stars of the collection include late medieval altarpieces from northern Germany and the Netherlands, as well as Bernt Notke’s monumental late-15th-century painting Danse Macabre. A particularly valuable section of the collection is the Silver Chamber, displaying silverware from churches, guilds, and the Brotherhood of Black Heads from the 16th to the 20th century.
Whether you are a local resident, a language learner, or an international visitor, this tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the historic atmosphere of Niguliste and to gain deeper insight into Estonian art and cultural heritage.
