Contemporary Art Collection

The Contemporary Art Collection was created in 1995, when the museum, with the support of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, started to consistently acquire works of art that did not fit into the museum’s “traditional” painting, sculpture and graphic arts collections based on the principles of collection, storage and exposition. The majority of the contemporary art collection is composed of works created in audio-visual and photo media. In addition, the collection contains installation and object-based art created in various materials and techniques, and other experimental works, including records of performance art, interactive works of art and much more.
