The lecture of Anna Orlando, one of the curators of the exhibition „Artemisia Gentilleschi. Courage and Passion“ (Genova, Palazzo Ducale) will focus on Gentileschi’s talent and the evolution of her artistic style over the course of her career.

It will place particular emphasis on the complex relationship between Artemisia and her father, Orazio Gentileschi, also a well-known painter of the time. Through their works, the lecture will highlight the mutual influences, similarities and differences in their style and in the representation of the themes covered. It will also explores the historical and social context in which Artemisia Gentileschi lived, focusing on the challenges that this extraordinary artist had to face as a woman in the artistic environment of the 17th century.

Thanks to her determination and her undeniable talent, Artemisia managed to overcome the cultural barriers of her time and leave an indelible mark on the history of art.
