The Old Town Educational College String Orchestra
The season of remembrance invites us to pause, reflect, and cherish the memory of those who are no longer with us. This year’s Old Town Educational College String Orchestra concert for the season of remembrance will be led by Robert Traksmann, concertmaster of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and an acclaimed soloist and chamber musician. The programme features works by Sibelius, Rautavaara, Shostakovich, and Tavener.
Robert Traksmann is a violinist and concertmaster of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. He studied under Tiiu Peäske and earned his master’s degree at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, where he studied violin with Professor Kolja Blacher. Traksmann has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras in Estonia and abroad and is also an active chamber musician, performing with Trio ’95 and the M4GNET String Quartet, among others.
The Old Town Educational College String Orchestra is a 30-member orchestra founded in 1996, consisting of students from the music school of Tallinn Old Town Educational College (Vanalinna Hariduskolleegium). Its musicians are aged 14–20, and the orchestra’s repertoire consists almost exclusively of Estonian music, ranging from Rudolf Tobias, Cyrillus Kreek, and Mart Saar to Tõnu Kõrvits, Arvo Pärt, and Erkki-Sven Tüür.
