The largest-ever exhibition to focus on the relationship between art and the environment in Estonia is centred around three themes.

The focal point of the exhibition is the magnificent Bollnäs Holy Kinship altarpiece from northern Sweden, which was, with high probability, made in Michel Sittow’s Tallinn workshop in 1510‒1520.

Olena Zelenska, the wife of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, delivered a video greeting at the opening of the exhibition Futuromarennia: Ukraine and Avant-Garde that recently opened at the Kumu Art Museum.

The display will include more than 100 original artworks – paintings and drawings, designs for books and posters, theatre costumes and scenography – as well as historical photos and video materials.

A lift now leads to the skydeck and provides a unique view of the entire horizon, including the city of Tallinn and Tallinn Bay.

The exhibition includes works by prominent painters: Alvar Cawén, Väinö Kunnas, Jalmari Ruokokoski, Tyko Sallinen, Yrjö Ollila and others.

The book introduces the Kumu Art Museum’s new permanent exhibition Landscapes of Identity: Estonian Art 1700–1945, opened in February 2021 on the 3rd floor of the museum.

The starting point of the current issue of the Proceedings was the conference Women Artists in Baltic and Nordic Museums, which took place on 5 and 6 March 2020 in the Kumu Art Museum in connection with the exhibition Creating the Self: Emancipating Woman in Estonian and Finnish Art.

The first days of November were truly exciting and busy for the team of the project “Michel Sittow in the North?” The research project focuses on two altarpieces associated with Michel Sittow – the Passion Altarpiece in Tallinn and the Bollnäs Holy Kinship Altarpiece in Sweden.

The working week on the research project “Michel Sittow in the North?” in Bollnäs Church in Sweden was brought to a conclusion by a seminar and a press day on 30. September.

This week, the team of the art historical research project “Michel Sittow in the North?”, consisting of international researchers and experts, met in Bollnäs Church in northern Sweden.

On 7 July, Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón visited the exhibition of works by Zuloaga at the Mikkel Museum. The museum visit was part of the Spanish Prime Minister’s official visit to Estonia.
